Beauty replaces eye sore at Jarvis Water main

KJ Mullins-Toronto: There may be construction work going on at the water main valve at Allan Gardens but that work is now the backdrop for some of the city’s most beautiful art.

On June 21 the Native Women’s Resource Centre helped start an expansive mural at Allan Gardens hiding away the construction work.

When it become clear that construction work would be ongoing until 2015 at the site City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam went into action. The work was needed but the community didn’t have to view an eye sore during that process.

Now instead of dirt and construction rigs the public is able to take in a huge art show at the location.

The murals are funded by C&M McNally Engineering, who supplied the aluminum panels that has become beautiful canvases.
