Hardship Fund in place until the end of the year
With City Councillor Janet Davis leading the way Toronto’s Hardship Fund will survive until the end of the year. Yesterday it was reported that city staff had stopped the fund that helps 1,500 people.
The Hardship Fund is for people with medical concerns like HIV and cancer who have no other means for funding. The Hardship Fund has a $900,000 budget.
With a strong Twitter campaign yesterday showing the outrage of the funding being quietly cut Councillor Davis worked quickly getting 15 other City Councillors to sign a letter to city staff about the issue.
