Aerial Acrobatics & Ice Skating Show at CNE
KJ Mullins-Toronto: Every year at the CNE there’s an amazing ice show. Until August 31st Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir are the featured ice dancers.
The first show of the season was jam packed as the skaters took to the ice this afternoon. This year’s show features skaters, trampolines and aerial acrobatics set to today’s music.
Each of the acts were flawless today. When Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir skated onto the ice the crowd went wild. This dazzling duo won the hearts of the world at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010 when they won the Gold Medal in Ice Dancing. Since then, they have gone to perform in numerous competitions and recently won the Gold Medal in the 2012 World Championships.
Personally I had one issue. Toronto has had a hard summer with gang violence and one of the dances featured skaters that looked like gang members. Considering what is going on in real life in the city I was a bit disturbed that the show had a number that glamourized gangs even if it was for a very brief time.
Other than that one number the show is a must see when going to the Ex.
From September 1 to September 3 Elvis Stojko will be the featured performer.
The performance at Ricoh Coliseum is free with your CNE admission.
