The National Women’s Show is a yearly hit in Toronto

KJ Mullins-Toronto: One of the highlights for women during the autumn in Toronto is the National Women’s Show taking place this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

For three days women in Toronto can check out fashion, style, design and more during the National Women’s Show. Across Cananda the show welcomes over 100,000 women each year who flock to see what’s new in fashion and health. With loads of food booths it’s easy to find new products that will make it to your kitchen after you’ve had a chance to sample the tasty treats.

Some of the special events this year are a chance to see The Young & The Restless’ star, Peter Bergman, aka JACK ABBOTT, Olympian Clara Hughes, Chef Nick Stellio and designer Jackie Morra.

One of the special stages this year is the Atlanta Hair Design Studio. While the wait is very long the stylists are amazing. Ash is one of those and took the time to make sure I looked amazing.

One of the reasons for the long wait was a lack of knowledge about what the salon could expect. They had been lead to believe that they would be doing a few make-overs an hour. Since none of the staff had been to the show in the past they didn’t understand that was the understatement of the year. With three stylists on hand (a fourth was scheduled but couldn’t come Friday because of a medical emergency) the average wait for a makeover was nearing the three hour mark. The salon’s manager said that because of the need they are adjusting Saturday and Sunday so there are more stylists available to handle the crowd. With two locations in Toronto this is one salon that will be seeing many new clients.

When you go make sure you check out the different stages. With fashion shows and beauty tips on the Toronto Star Centre Stage along with important health sessions on the other stages there is sure to be a topic that interests you.

Every year I look to find a new booth that really stands out with something unique. This year that booth is Partylicious Mama out of Whitby. This mom of two makes some of the cutest Marshmallow treats I have ever seen. Not only does she make the treats but teaches you how to decorate your cookies and cupcakes to look like a million bucks.
