Hurricane Sandy expected to hit Toronto Monday night
Emergency Ontario Management is warning residents in Southern and Eastern Ontario about flooding, heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts.
By tonight winds in Toronto could reach 100 km.
Since Saturday Toronto has increased crews to take care of potential flooding said Myles Curie, City of Toronto.
Because of the leaves falling catch basins are a risk for serious flooding.
Curie warns motorists to be aware of ponding on highways and roadways.
Curie said if you see drowned wires call 3-1-1. Do not go outside. People should have water on hand. There could be an extended power failure in Toronto.
During the next 12 to 24 hours Hurricane Sandy is projected inland towards Eastern Ontario. There is another system that is coming across Ontario that will keep Sandy in Toronto. It is expected that there could be rainfall as high as 52 mm.
